For sump pumps, there are some notes you should know :
- Read the installation material of the sump pump.
- Check the sump pump against any visible damage caused by shipping.
- Contact the dealer if there is any damage.
- Make sure that the sump pump liner “pit” is large enough to allow proper clearance for the pumps float switch.

- For future use, keep all warranty information, installation instructions, and receipts.
- Size the submersible pump to the proper capacity of the home.
- In a two-submersible pump system, each sump pump should be sized to meet the homes pumping requirements.
- Verify that the sewage pit is gas tight and well vented to prevent odors.
- At the discharge pipe , install a check valve and a union.
- Don’t carry the sump pump by its power cord.

- Don’t ever splice or cut the power cord.
- Always disconnect the sump Pump From Power Source Before handling.
- Don’t use a discharge pipe smaller than the submersible pump discharge size.
- Avoid pouring chemicals into the sump pump system such as acid’s, floor wax, paints, or any degreasing chemicals. Common household soaps and detergents are acceptable.

- Avoid flushing any items that are not biodegradable such as paper towels, feminine hygiene products, or other items that could jam the pump impeller.
- Review all applicable local and national codes and verify that the installation conforms to each of them.
- For the two submersible pump system, an alarm must be installed where an installation may become overloaded or primary sump pump failure would result in property damage.
- Consult manufacturer for clarifications or questions.
- Drill a 3/16" weep hole between the check valve and the sump pump housing.
